While on family vacation this year in the Finger Lakes, life is fairly simple. Breakfast, Olympics, cycle, lunch, swim in the lake, dinner, Olympics, sleep, repeat. Add local fermented grapes as needed.
Two days ago, I took off cycling out around Cayuga Lake, through the vineyards and cornfields to Ithaca.
Lovely ride of 112 km in just over four hours, mostly on lightly trafficked two-lane roads. The family was waiting in Ithaca where we lunched, explored Cornell University and drove back to our house on Owasco Lake.
Then, yesterday, in an easy no-chain ride, I rode around the lake in front of our house.
Just 50 km in two hours. No records broken, but it was a lovely, cool morning and always great to be able to ride from home and back to home.. and get in a loop of a lake. There are two things that I love to do while cycling.. riding up cols (gaps in the mountains) or looping around a big lake.
