Well, maybe it wasn't exactly 134 boxes but we packed up everything from the 47th Street apartment and are now happily, albeit only partially, unpacked in the Bristol on 56th Street and 2nd Avenue.
After fourteen years in the same two-bedroom convertible, our DNA was embedded into the walls and floors of that place. I really never imagined that we would be able to put everything into boxes and actually extricate ourselves from 21F. But, last Friday the movers came, schlepped us nine blocks north and although there are still a lot of boxes that need unloading, we are 80% installed.
Here is Kai, standing in front of our new apartment building, The Bristol. It has a nice driveway entrance, which is convenient for loading and unloading after long trips.
The first thing set up in the new apartment, after the bedroom, of course, was the office.
So, two days after the move, Chris and Maja showed up for work on Monday morning to a working set of workstations and by the end of the day, Collette had organized the closets full of equipment and the assorted cables, connectors, power bars and cartridges that keep the Earth Negotiations Bulletin going.
Midtown Manhattan looking over 55th Street towards the southeast from our window on the 11th floor, down to Sutton Place and the Beekman Hotel, just north of the United Nations (which we can just see from one of our windows.)
So, we are moved in and the stress of not knowing when the eviction from our "going condo" place on 47th Street and the BIG MOVE is finally behind us!
